Adult Care Advisors

Spring is a special time of year for everyone – the leaves are coming out, flowers are blooming, and the days get longer and warmer. There is no age limit on enjoying spring! We all look forward to spring and it’s a great reason to spend some time with a senior you care about.

At Adult Care Advisors, we are here to help our clients understand how best to care for the seniors in their lives no matter where they are living.

One of the best ways to find out what your senior enjoyed doing when they were younger is by spending a little time asking questions and listening to what they tell you. You may be very surprised to find out what your elderly best friend has to say about spring times from their past.

  • Games: Games are a great way to make the most out of elderly years and keep the mind sharp. There are many benefits to the mental exercises involved with games of all types: chess, card games, even golf. Games also have a great way of introducing some gentle competition and intellectual challenge at the same time as you are getting in some social interaction.
  • Parties: What could be more perfect than an afternoon lunch party in the spring? The weather hasn’t gotten too hot and the bugs are usually less vicious. A small “get together” is a great way to get the neighbors involved and reconnected after the long, cold winter. You can take the time to find out what other seniors are doing and what help they may need around the house as well.
  • Bike Rides: While still an outdoor sport, a bike ride can be a lot of fun without being dangerous. It is a low-impact activity that is easy on the knees and you can ride to different places, like a park, or a favorite restaurant, or a friend’s house. Getting older doesn’t have to mean the end of sports activities; although it sometimes means going a little slower. Going slower is how one gets to smell the roses after all. We should probably all try that!
  • Sightseeing: One thing many of us forget to do is to be a tourist in our own town. After all, most of us have art museums, theater, zoos, and other cultural venues right in our hometown and we forget to take advantage of them. Even if your seniors have seen a place many times, they probably have not been there recently. A trip will give them the opportunity to see things from a different perspective.

At Adult Care Advisors, we help couples, families, and children of the elderly work out their best options for senior living. We provide advice, support, and help you care for the seniors that have made a difference in your life.
